Miss Justwright

When she woke up, the moon was shining into her bedroom. It was the middle of the night. She opened her eyes, looked at the furniture in the unlit room and immediately closed her eyes again. Well, well. I'm dreaming, she thought. A cow in my bedroom, that's impossible. I must be dreaming. But I feel so awake and so clear-headed. How could I have seen horns? Carefully, she opened her eyes again, and this time she sat up straight in bed. It wasn't a cow. It was a man. A man was sitting on the chair next to her bed. He had horns, that was the most striking thing about him. Big curved horns, horrible to look at. He also had a beard, a scruffy, bushy beard.
When he saw Miss Justwright sit up, he raised his club menacingly and leant over the bed. Miss Justwright did not scream. She was a resolute woman and she pulled the light cord. The barbarian was shocked by the bright light. He forgot that he was trying to scare her and stared dumbfounded at the light bulb hanging from the ceiling. Is this some kind of prank? thought Miss Justwright.
She opened her mouth to ask him, but before she could say anything the savage was glaring at her again and asking, "Where is it?"
