In the Parking Lot
It was early in the morning and the sun was
shining. Ross and Odette had spent the night in their sleeping bags
in the van, and now they were having breakfast and scattering crumbs
for the birds.
They were still in the parking lot. Ludwig and cousin Suzie were
under a sieve inside the van. It was too dangerous to let them out.
A cat was on the prowl.
Ludwig couldn't bear it and squeaked, "I want to see the world.
I want to search for the land of Mysopia. The country without mouse
traps or cats!"
"Not right now," said Odette. "Just be glad you're safe inside."
"You know, Odette, I might not have any papers and I haven't got
much money, but I still feel good today," said Ross. "It's so quiet
here and it's perfect for roller-skating. Why don't we just stay
put?"
